Life goes on

We have finally got our Subaru back and the Accent is fixed, so we are back to being a two car family again.  It makes things a little easier at times.  Life continues on in our little frozen corner of the world.  We actually got a decent amount of snow this weekend so there is a possibility that the Winter Carnival that's planned at work this Friday might actually happen.  Of course the snow might all blow away before then, I guess we'll have to see.

February is just around the corner, and it made me stop and think about this last month.  Here are some highlights:

The best cupcake I have ever had

Michelle's birthday
What do we do when it's -30 outside?  Go outside to watch pond hockey.  Chris was involved in a hockey tournament and of course I went to watch.  The Saturday games had been cancelled because not only was it -retarded outside, the wind blew the falling snow into a virtual whiteout.  Sunday was better and I went to watch.  I was rewarded with yummy wings at Jackfish Pub, but I was still pretty cold after an hour of watching.
We managed to get to GP for an over night trip last weekend which was nice and I finally got to go to OMG Cupcakes.  The cupcakes were divine!  On the way back, we stopped off at the bowling alley for Michelle's birthday.
This final weekend of January was spent doing little DIY projects around the house.  I finally have a closet in our bedroom, new shelves in the living room and the tv downstairs has a new cabinet to sit on.  Chris did all the building and hanging, while I cleaned and baked cookies.  It's nice to start the week with a clean house.  Tomorrow is a Pro D day, no kids but lots to learn!

So Friday the 13th...

I always get a little nervous on Friday the 13th, I know it's silly, but I do.  I tried to forget about it as we made our way in the cold darkness to school.  We made it to school in one piece and since I didn't have duty today, I didn't have to worry about slipping on the ice or anything.  All 21 children showed up today (they must really like me or something, every other class was missing 2-6 kids!)  The sun was shining and the icy playground was beautiful.  We had to leave fairly quickly after school, as were finally going to get a loaner car from the auto body shop where the Subaru is waiting to be fixed.  We weren't that far from the school, when a pick up truck passes us going about 120 or so and spits up a rock into the driver's side window.  It completely imploded all over Chris.  It was so shocking, even Chris asked me if they had shot us!  Of course the other vehicle kept on going.  We stopped at ICBC on the way into town to find out what to do.  They told us to just make the claim under the comprehensive insurance.  That would have been easy, but we don't have comprehensive on that vehicle.  That's right, no comprehensive.  In our defense, we were supposed to be using that car for in town driving and not a lot of driving at that.  So when we picked up the loaner car, we went next door to the glass place owned by the same company and asked how much it would cost to replace it.  I thought we'd be looking at a huge payment, but it's going to be $160 installed.  Not bad.  They even taped our window as the weather is going to be -27 and snowing this weekend.  So now we are back to juggling one car and getting our times to match.  Frustrating.  I hope this weekend gets better.

Happy New Year!

I know, I know, I'm a little late, but it really seems like just yesterday I was on vacation.  I don't know where the last 7 days have gone.

We're back to school, and I was very happily surprised that the kids were ready to come back.  They have slipped back into the routines without much trouble and we are ticking along quite nicely.
For some reason, I feel very comfortable and relaxed these last couple of weeks.  Nothing like the few weeks before Christmas.  I don't feel stressed by planning or school at all, and really feel like I have it together.  That's a really nice feeling.

We have been experiencing a very yuck Winter so far.  We have not got all that snow that I am used to, therefore, no skiing at all yet and that is a little depressing.  We have had lots of + temperatures which has turned everything into a soggy and slippery mess.  Not fun for anyone.  Today though was cold and beautiful, which is much more pleasant.  -10-20 is a nice temperature especially when there is a sunny, blue sky above.  I just hope it can keep up.
I am currently in a crafting slump right now, and don't know how to get myself started up again.  I have been trolling the internet and magazines, but no real luck.  Now that I have all this time, there's nothing I really want to do.  The slump is so bad that I've actually cleaned up the Room of Scrap!  That's right folks, you can see the floor.

I have started going to the gym 6 days a week, and actually made it all through last week.  I find it very rushed most nights, especially when I want to stay a little at school to prep for the next day.  Oh well, it helps me sleep and I feel better most of the time.  I have also started yoga, and this I find and excellent compliment to the weights and cardio.  28 days until it becomes a habit, or something like that?  We'll see if exercise is something that I ever look forward to.  I got Chris to go to a Man yoga class- I really wish I could have been there to see it.  Just hearing about it made me laugh until I had tears in my eyes.  Maybe it'll become a habit with him??  I won't hold my breath.

I promise to get a little better at posting pictures, but there is just nothing going on right now.
Have a great day!
